San Jose police have arrested another suspect in what has turned into a four month long investigation. On June 19, the San Jose Police Department received a 911 call reporting a man who had been shot on the 1600 block of Virginia Avenue. That area is located in East San Jose.

Investigators determined that the individual shot was Manuel Urzua, who was 16 at the time of his death. Homicide detectives believe that the violence was related to gang activity. Gang members near the Los Suenos Avenue and King Road area of East San Jose are believed to have taken shots at Urzua. The boy was declared to be dead at the Valley Medical Hospital, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives believe that the some of the gang members may have been using some form of illicit substance, which might have fueled the violence. Several arrests have been made throughout the investigation. During the week of October 18 yet another arrest was made in connection with the crime.

Olsen Garcia, age 25, is the sixth suspect arrested in connection with the crime. Detectives identified it as the 25th homicide in the city of San Jose this year. Few details are available about the actual events because of the unique nature of the case.

Homicide detectives stated that the case has a large group of defendants that are being charged with accessory under gang enhancements. They feel that any disclosure of details to the press could jeopardize the case. A few things are known, however.

San Jose police believe that David Calderron Bautista, 28, used a handgun to fire at Urzua while walking home. Marco Martinez, age 20, Jorge Luis Ibarez, age 22 and Antonio Sanchez, age 34 have all been charged in the murder of Urzua. A 17-year-old juvenile suspect has also been charged. A handgun had been collected as evidence in this particular murder as well.

An amended complaint was filed on October 11, which included the other five defendants who are suspect of participating in the murder. A court hearing has been set of the defendants as a result.
